St Joseph’s Hockey

Welcome to St Joseph’s Hockey Club website 2018.

Hockey is a very popular sport at St Joseph’s school, with more and more children joining our ‘Hockey family” each year. You can find all necessary information on this website.

HOCKEY UNIFORM

St. Josephs Hockey shirt – supplied (it is players responsibility to return at the end of the season to your Coach or team Manager or you might be asked to pay for it)

Royal Blue shorts (Years 0-4) or Black shorts (Years 5-8)

Shin Pads – rules state players cannot play on the field without them, this includes training!

Royal Blue (Years 0-4) or Black (Years 5-8) Socks with or without thin white stripes at top – try The Warehouse or any sports shop

Sports shoes (NOT flat soled shoes please, your child will slip around on them and get injured or burnt on the turf)

Hockey Stick (from ground up to belly button in height). There is no such thing as “they will grow into their stick in hockey” sticks too small or too big will cause injury to faces, stomachs etc. Please for safety of your child get the right size.

If your child doesn’t like the cold much, they can wear a thermal top underneath their shirt, we want the kids to enjoy the game and when you are cold, it is not enjoyable. Lets hope they are running around too much to get cold, there are always positions where sometimes you do stand around a bit, especially if you are a back and your team is A+ Awesome!

MOUTH GUARD (players without one will not be allowed on the turf and must also be used in training so they get used to them being in their mouths and talking/breathing with them) Give them a dummy run well before start to play, you will probably have to cut away a lot of it. Make sure they are junior size, the adult ones are way too big.
